No one`s posted in this sub forum yet, so I thought I`d give it a shot.
The Black Scimitar Scandal
Just hit 10 attack and can`t wait to buy your black scimitar?
Wait!
Did you know that the steel scimitar and black scimitar have the same strength bonus?
The only thing better about the black scimitar is a +4 slash bonus.
That means that you won't be hitting higher if you use a black one over a steel one!
Now, if you're fighting a monster and hitting a lot of 0s, the black scimitar will make you more accurate.
But with black scimitars being so uncommon and in demand now that F2P is out, they can get pretty expensive.
This goes for all black weaponry, so if I were you, I'd wait 'til mithril!
The Prayer Problem
Everybody knows Prayer is one of the toughest skills out there for a pure F2P account.
Now, we all deal with this in our own ways. I, for one, chicken out and keep prayer super low, and mostly ignore it altogether.
Other people may just be rich as heck and buy their way to a high prayer level. *ahem* Bargan and Audi
But you, like me, may realize that it has to be done eventually. There are a few ways to go about it:
Splurging:
You man up, bite the bullet, and dive in head first.
This is obviously expensive, but it feels soooo good.
At current prices, big bones are around 320 each. At 15 xp a pop, you're looking at 21.333gp/xp.
This means that 31 will cost you around 300k and 20 minutes and 43 will cost you around 1000k and about an hour.
"Saving"
Scared, looking for other options, you opt to bury normal bones because they must be cheaper, right?
Nope!
As you can see in the lovely graphic, big bones currently (17/03/2015) sell for 320 and regular bones sell for 87.
This may seem great, but let's take a look at what you're getting for your dollar:
Big bones, weighing in at 320gp and 15 xp gives us a ratio of 21.333... gp/xp (320/15).
Regular bones, weighing in at 87gp and 4.5 xp gives us a ratio of 19.333... gp/xp (87/4.5).
Now, regular bones may have a reach advantage, but it's nothing compared to big bones' power and strength.
What I mean by that is, you're sacrificing a lot of time for a little gain by choosing regular bones over big bones. (added for clarity)
The average person can bury bones at a rate of about 2500 per hour.
This means, if you're going for 43 prayer, you'd save around 100k at the cost of about 2 extra hours of your time.
If you value your time at more than 50k/h, this is not the method for you!
The Frugal Method
Feeling hopeless? Out of money? Out of options?
This is the method for you.
Lucky for you, there are a few bone spawns clumped together in the world of Runescape.
One of which is in the Chaos Altar area of the Wilderness, which is probably better, but I'm afraid of the Wildy so I'll be doing the other one.
Take a walk over to Edgeville in this area.
Then head down the ladder.
Walk a bit north, and you'll find yourself here, with 3 bone spawns!
But wait, there's more!
Just a bit east from here, you can see there's a great little spot with some giant rats and 4 more bone spawns
What I'd suggest is you camp out here and pick up the bones as they spawn, while killing the rats for extra bones and combat xp.
This is obviously not as effective as splurging, but it costs you nothing, so I'd say it's worth a shot!
The Chaos Altar is much more effective for this kind of training, but I'm not going there because I'm a cow, and cows aren't allowed in the Wilderness.
Thanks for reading. I'm just gunna post it how it is then look at it, then I'll do my formatting and adding pictures and whatnot.
